Feng Shui Basics – Bagua Map

One of the fundamentals of Feng Shui is determining where the life areas of the Bagua map are located in your home.

Applying the Bagua to your home

2015 FS Bagua
~~~~~~~~~~~~Entrance Quadrant~~~~~~~~~~
  • Standing at the perceived front door of your home, the map would be over laid on your main floor layout from that place.  Include attached decks, garages and add-ons to the structure of the house.  Therefore you are entering into your home through either Knowledge & Self Cultivation, Career or Helpful People & Travel.  If you generally enter the house through an alternative door perhaps via the garage or back door because of parking, the map is still laid over the house from the perceived front door (the one a stranger coming to your house would go to first)
  • How the map is laid on the main floor would be reflected on any upper floors or lower floors.
  • If your house is not a symmetrical shape, say an L-shape, then the areas would be missing or found outside of the building.
  • The map can be applied on each room, based on the entrance into the room lay the map so you are entering through one of the 3 areas as above.
    Hi, my garage is beside of the house, with a door link to the house. The house s longer than the garage. The house Is not the same line as the garage door. Is the garage included in bagua map?, if so, the second level of the house will have huge missing spot? Thanks
      Earl, It sounds like the garage is included in your overall mapping. When you draw the shape/perimeter of your home on paper, apply the bagua map onto it as I describe above. Because it is perfect square or rectangle, you can use dashed lines to indicate the squaring off of the map.
      For 2 storey homes, you look at it from a bird’s perspective, as in the map from the main floor radiates upward to the 2nd floor (as if you took the roof off. I understand that doing so then makes it appear as if a large portion of the map is missing because of the garage not having a second floor.
      One of the ways to balance that is to enhance those guas/areas (that you have in the garage) in your living space.
      For instance if your garage is the majority of Knowledge & Self Cultivation/Health & Family/Wealth & Prosperity, I would invite you to enhance and anchor those areas within the rooms of your home (the bagua can be applied on each room as well).
      I would also invite you to keep your garage organized and free of clutter. Garages can be a holding area for storage which can congest or impede energy flowing while simultaneously it is a source of great flows of energy when vehicles start, exit, enter and stay.
    Hi Earl, Can you clarify, is your garage attached to your home? Or is it a separate building? If it is attached (same structure), then you would have to square off your map and therefore you may have missing areas. Also, the second floor would be a mirror of the first, so yes in fact you may only have half of the map if the garage is included.
    This isn’t troublesome as there are ways to amp up the missing areas to balance things out.
