Destination: Happy Place

I am not certain when we stopped using the term “Happy Place“, in our language.   Regardless, the bigger question is, have we also stopped going there?

Your Happy Place was a scenario you created in your mind that you could conjure up with less and less effort the more time you spent creating it and visiting it.  The details were best if they were multi-sensory, so that you could hear the sounds, taste the tastes, smell the smells, feel the feels and immerse yourself in your mind movie as if it were happening in real time.

Go To Your Happy Place“, was a phrase you repeated when you were angry as a means to switch your mood to handle the situation more calmly rather than in a fury.  Visiting your happy place is also a good trip when you are feeling down, having a tough time or otherwise as it allows a shift in literal brain chemistry and activity.

A couple weeks ago I was inspired to daydream about being somewhere I’d love to travel to.  It took a mere moments for me to step into that place and see, feel, hear, touch, and smell all that was familiar to me.

That led me to start seeing myself at the airport, then boarding a plane and flying to my destination, then boarding transit etc etc.

The next morning I was delightfully reminded of my happy place when the commuter train I passed had an entire car wrapped in an advertisement for the airline I would most likely fly with.

I laughed at how quickly I was brought back into that train of thought, the smells, the sounds, the sights…and most of all the feeling.

Maybe I have an advantage because I have made this trip multiple times, so when I say I can see my packed bag, passport in hand trust me, I can.

I also know how it will feel to fly for the 8+ hours, and when I arrive I am intimately familiar with where I go to clear customs and to collect my bags.  I can see it as if I’m walking through the airport, smelling the frites and koffie, passing the shops and kiosks towards the counter to buy my train ticket.  It takes little effort to conjure the sights of bustling travelers, the symphony of accents and languages.  I can literally see myself there among it all, as if I were there in this moment, right this very moment as I type this.

From past experience I can track the time for the train trip, the ticking off of stops along the way getting me closer and closer to my final destination.

And arrival.  Ahhh sweet arrival.  Big Breath in my smiling face of having arrived.  The brick walkway, the beautiful train station, the excitement of dropping my bag off and marveling at the simplicity and efficiency of my accommodations. Promptly setting off to the grocery store to buy my favorite bread, cheese, meats and wine.  Messaging my friends letting them know I’ve arrived, albeit jet-lagged from time change, but I AM SO HAPPY TO BE THERE, and will see them soon.

Being able to see my movements through the city, the recognition of all things familiar and the observation of all things which are new to me.

Being able to feel the excitement and joy to be there breathing in the air.

Being there NOW, in my mind.

Most importantly, FEELING all of the feelings in the present.

Delight in the Details

I could carry on in minute detail, and if you are still reading at this point, I don’t want you to bail out now.  Those details, no matter how small, are significant in painting a clear picture of my Happy Place. The details of the vision is what I invite you on getting as specific as you can.

The details about how you are going to afford to go there, or how you are going to get the time off, or how you are going to deal with this, that and the other things do not belong in your HAPPY Place.

Evict them NOW.

Maybe you even got the sense through the words that I was forming my vision from a place of creation rather than survival.

Survival is wanting to manifest something out of need, with the addendum that if you do not manifest now then the consequences are less than ideal.  Painting a picture with the feeling of doubt, desperation, fear, fear and more fear.

Survival energy is what creates limitations in and on us and our ability to be open to receive.

Creation energy is not just painting a picture of what we want, but generating a mural of it that can be seen from the space station.  Coming from a place of creation feels good in exponential ways.  We don’t doubt, we don’t need, we just flow and the vision is limitless.

Yes it is true that I don’t need to get to this destination, I’m not feeling doubt, desperation or fear in any quantity about not manifesting it. I’m only feeling joy at the thought, at the prospect, at the and during the creation of my vision.  Not to mention joy invited some friends, like ease, contentment, grounded, happy, connection and love.

The keys to mine or your happy place is to feel all those things in the present moment.  Not an “I’ll feel joy in the future when I get to…” literally go to my happy place.

If your happy place is an actual place, then do the things as if you are getting ready to travel, to make the experience even more real, in the present.  Creation energy invites inspiration to expand on that feeling in the present.

  • Sign up for travel alerts for seat sales
  • Check your calendar
  • Check availability of accommodations
  • Find a site that tells you what’s going on during your ideal time there
  • Plot out your museums or tours or whatever you do there.
  • Plan your itinerary if you travel that way.

Do all the things you would do.  Act as if its happening.  Take the Happy Place vision to the next level, renovate or upgrade your current Happy Place so that without much effort you can be there.  In your minds eye, See what you see, Smell what you smell, etc.

Most importantly of Feel what it feels like, NOW.

Feel the Joy, NOW

Feel the Ease, NOW

Feel the Happy, NOW

Feel the…….Ahhhhhhhhhh……, NOW
